Our Name.
Ngamu Tech adopts the name and pays homage to the great elder "Ngamu Yarrbarigu", who has one of the earliest documented actions of reconciliation recorded in modern Australia.
On the afternoon of July 19, 1770, Captain Cook arrives on Waymburr land. As an elder of the clan, it was the duty of Ngamu Yarrbarigu to try and stop further desecration at Waymburr. Identifying Captain Cook as an elder of the intruding clan, Ngamu asked for him to stop spilling blood in conflict and damaging sacred land by presenting a broken spear. The reaction he received from the intruding clan of warmth was a clear sign that they in fact also wanted peace and was paramount towards the first steps of reconciliation.
